Women are being fed a lot of bullshit, too

While critics of the pickup scene might be baffled at the amount of pseudo-science and other nonsense floating around, it is nothing compared to what the weight loss and beauty industries do to women. While I was killing a few minutes on Youtube lately, I came across a video with the title "A Girl's Guide To Looking Good Naked". It had about 1,6 million views.

Unfortunately, the video had been disabled for embedding, but here's the page on Youtube, and here's the corresponding entry on Videojugs.

And now brace yourself!

This is a direct quote from the website:

Step 1: Long term fixes
You only have the one body so look after it well. Everyday drink at least 2 litres of water, and exercise regularly to keep you looking your best. This needn't take over your life - just 10 minutes a day will make a difference.

Your skin puts up with a lot of flak, so treat it right; exfoliate once a week and moisturize often. Not only does this increase you skins elasticity but the act of smoothing on lotion puts you directly in touch with the shape and feel of your body.

And you thought scammy pickup instructors are bad? This kind of information given to women is just every bit as harmful. Let me repeat this:

Everyday drink at least 2 litres of water, and exercise regularly to keep you looking your best. This needn't take over your life - just 10 minutes a day will make a difference.

So, fat Betty, don't worry about not ever getting a man. Just drink two liters of water a day and exercise for ten (!) minutes and you'll look like Jessica Alba in no time. Sure, you can keep eating two cupcakes a day, and, yeah, help yourself to some more chocolate. After all, you only live once. Don't worry, if ten minutes a day sound excessive (yeah, Betty, it really is), we'll just count the time it takes you to move from the couch in the living room to the fridge to get some ice cream.

I honestly can't believe that utter nonsense like this is even out there, but I guess it just proves the point that people love being lied to.

  1. Aaron. I don't know where to post this, so i'll use this opportunity. I was thinking of emailing you, but maybe others ask the same.

First off, I want to thank you for you valuable voice. I just joined the community after putting my hand on The Game by Strauss, and you're putting things back into reality. I'm doing a master degree in nutritional science, and as you said somewhere in your book, it's sad, sad, sad to see how little individual posses any critical appraisal skills - related to anything. This is why we are ending with so much bullshit in the nutrition and fitness industry, and as someone who's trying to be a professionnal, I can assure you that it's a fuckin pain in the ass. I know how you probably felt regarding the seduction industry.

As much as I agree with you basic premise, that is that it takes attraction so that any ''game'' can work, and that attraction probably is not a choice (you like or you don't) do you believe tho that some aspect of the game can help in not killing the attraction? Such as using opening quote that don't show neediness, trying to lead... I mean, there are few girls in my life that clearly were attracted to me, but, back in the days, I was clearly a Nice Guy with em (paying drinks, diner, shit like that).

So my point is that, is there stuff from various game protocol, from your point of view, such as efficient opening line, demonstrating, somehow, that you're not needy, that are still needed to succefully close a girl? Or if a girl is attracted to you, whatever you do, she'll give you chances?

It reminds me a bit of The System by Roy Valentine, which, first step is to spot the girl who are attracted to you by a prolonged or repeated eye contact, and then approach only these girls. But I don't know. I've got good style (work on it a lot lately) a very muscular and lean body, but i'm small, so girls tend, at first, to not notice me much. So that eye contact stuff is not working in my case.

Well, i'm getting lost anyway. Enough of this stuff. Do you believe that some stuff from the game, as presented by the community, is still requiered to at least not kill the attraction that style, body language and physique create?

    Thx

  2. Hey man,

thanks for this comment. Things are not that clear-cut as your question insinuates them to be. There's a margin of error, and it gets wider the more attracted the girl is, but if she is not attracted at all, it doesn't matter how well you "play the game".

Since you are a smaller guy, you have to be more active to get attention. Also, you'd do a lot better if you only focused on girls that are smaller than you, because girls usually expect the guy to be taller than they are, but this is rather commonsensical advice.
